After enduring a seven-week chief petty officer induction, Jeffery Auffenbergh, fire controlman CPO (select), center, wears fouled anchor collar devices for the first time as he stands at attention during the CPO pinning ceremony held on the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. "Attaining the rank of E-7 for enlisted is the equivalent of an officer going from being a captain to a rear admiral," said Rear Adm. Philip J. Wisecup as he addressed the 42 new chiefs pinned from Ronald Reagan, Carrier Air Wing 14, and Carrier Strike Group 7. Ronald Reagan is currently deployed to the 5th Fleet/NAVCENT area of responsibility. Operations in the NAVCENT area of operations are focused on reassuring regional partners of the United States' commitment to security, which promotes stability and global prosperity.
