Tech. Sgt. Amanda Rosato and Staff Sgt. Brian Kessler, 210th REDHORSE, Ohio ANG, explain how they use the slump test equipment, comprised of a 300mm high hollow steel cone with handles, a steel tamping rod, a steel base plate and a tape measure. The concrete is tamped using 25 strokes of the steel rod. This is done three times and at the end the height difference between the steel cone and the slumped concrete is measured, this difference, measure to the nearest 10 millimeters, is "the slump." This must done to ensure the concrete used is correct before the footings can be poured at the building site where the new classroom will be built. The humanitarian mission, “Beyond the Horizon,” in Barahona, Dominican Republic, will provide the locals, in several areas of the island, with two new clinics, two of which are medical and one dental clinic as well as two new classrooms for the schools.
