160816-N-WA993-077 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Aug. 16, 2016) Damage Controlman Fireman Maia Bakri, from San Diego, connects a firemain hose to a water driven fan (RAMFAN) on the fantail during Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) on the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). RAMFANs are used to remove smoke from spaces affected by fire.. “This RAMFAN is being tested to make sure the fan blades rotate, so it can suck out smoke effectively,” said Bakri. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
