The amphibious dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) gets underway from the Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (NAVSTA GTMO). The Carter Hall pulled into NAVSTA GTMO so that an environmental wash down could be performed on the ship and all of the equipment used in support of.disaster relief efforts in Haiti. The environmental wash down is a.requirement to bring equipment back in the United States. NAVSTA GTMO is the primary logistical hub for providing support for support of Operation Unified Response.
