A rigid hull inflatable boat crew, from USS Cowpens, stands by as the visit, board, search and seizure boarding officer and team members conduct a simulated VBSS non-compliant boarding exercise aboard the HMAS Darwin. USS Cowpens and HMAS Darwin are operating together conducting unit-level training prior to the commencement of Talisman Saber 2011. USS Cowpens is forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, and is underway in the U.S. Navy 7th Fleet area of operations. TS11 is an exercise designed to train U.S. and Australian forces to plan and conduct Combined Task Force operations to improve combat readiness and interoperability on a variety of missions, from conventional conflict to peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance efforts.
