US, Australian navy build bonds during Talisman Sabre 2011

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Trinadee Jones shows the propulsion auxiliary control console in the central control station to Royal Australian Navy sailors from the HMAS Darwin aboard the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Cowpens during Talisman Sabre 2011. USS Cowpens and HMAS Darwin are operating together conducting unit-level training. Cowpens is forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, and is underway in the U.S. Navy 7th Fleet area of operations. TS11 is a biennial combined training activity designed to train Australian and U.S. forces in planning and conducting Combined Task Force operations to improve Australian Defense Force/U.S. combat readiness and interoperability. It reflects the closeness of the alliance and the strength and flexibility of the ongoing military-military relationship. (Photo by: Petty Officer 1st Class N. Ross Taylor)
