US, Australian navy build bonds during Talisman Sabre 2011

U.S. Navy Chief Warrant Officer Rene Cornejo, air warfare officer, supervises an air defense exercise with the Royal Australian Navy frigate HMAS Darwin, from the combat information center aboard the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Cowpens. USS Cowpens and HMAS Darwin are operating together conducting unit level training. Cowpens is forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, and is underway in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. TS11 is a biennial combined training activity designed to train Australian and U.S. forces in planning and conducting Combined Task Force operations to improve Australian Defense Force/U.S. combat readiness and interoperability. It reflects the closeness of the alliance and the strength and flexibility of the ongoing military-military relationship. (Photo by: Petty Class 1st Class N. Ross Taylor)
