160817-N-NF288-190 TOKYO BAY (Aug. 17, 2016) Quartermaster Seaman Recruit Renna Cruz, from Wharton, Texas, stands the port-bearing taker watch aboard the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), as the ship gets underway for Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) testing. The port-bearing taker looks for fixed navigational aids such as lighthouses and radio towers to determine the ship’s position. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
