160817-N-WA993-221 TOKYO BAY (Aug. 17, 2016) Seaman Kayla McCuen, from Indianola, Iowa, stands the forward-lookout watch aboard the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), during Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) high-speed turn testing. Sailors standing the forward-lookout watch primarily scan for surface and air contacts and Sailors who have fallen over the side. “I love seeing the open ocean again,” said McCuen. “I enjoy this watch because of the great view.” Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
