YOKOSUKA, Japan (Aug. 18, 2016) Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class (SW) Louis Batson gives a three-finger signal to the capstan operator during a sea-and-anchor evolution aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). The three fingers indicate how fast the capstan operator should draw in or let out the mooring lines, which secure the ship to the pier. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
