Cmdr. David Bernal, Peruvian Naval Command and Liaison Naval Officer for High Speed Vessel (HSV-2) Swift and HSV-Southern Partnership Station 2012, speaks with Peruvian combat engineers about their progressive construction at Escuela Pronoie Nuevo Despertar Mis Primeros Pasitos in Zona De Acapulco. U.S. Navy, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB 23) embarked aboard Swift is working with Peruvian combat engineers from Base Naval De Callao and Brigada Infanteria De Marina De Ancon. The Seabees and engineers will spend three weeks refurbishing schools in the area. HSV-SPS is an annual deployment of U.S. Navy ships and assets to the U.S. Southern Command's area of responsibility in the Caribbean, Central and South America. The exercise involves information sharing with Navies, Coast Guards and civilian services throughout the region.
