Cmdr. David Bernal, Peruvian Naval Command and Liaison Naval Officer for High Speed Vessel (HSV-2) Swift and HSV-Southern Partnership Station 2012, and Peruvian combat engineer Jonathan Alejandro, speaks with Chief Olivia Sturgeon, assigned to the Maritime Civil Affairs Team and Lt. j.g. Justin Henry, officer in charge (OIC) of U.S. Navy Seabees, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB 23), embarked on Swift, about their progressive construction at an elementary school in Zona De Acapulco. NMCB 23 aboard Swift is working with Peruvian combat engineers from Base Naval De Callao and Brigada Infanteria De Marina De Ancon during HSV-SPS 12. The Seabees and engineers will spend three weeks refurbishing schools in the area. HSV-SPS is an annual deployment of U.S. Navy ships and assets to the U.S. Southern Commands area of responsibility in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
