Cmdr. Garry Wright, High Speed Vessel (HSV-2) Swift mission Cmdr., and David Bernal, Peruvian Naval Command and Liaison Naval Officer for Swift and HSV-Southern Partnership Station 2012, smile with Chief Olivia Sturgeon, assigned to the Maritime Civil Affairs Team embarked on Swift, during their visit in supporting the refurbishing of an elementary school in Zona De Acapulco. Wright, Bernal, and Sturgeon are all visiting in support of U.S. Navy Seabees, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB 23), aboard Swift. NMCB 23 is working with Peruvian combat engineers from Base Naval De Callao and Brigada Infanteria De Marina De Ancon during HSV-SPS 12. The Seabees and engineers will spend three weeks refurbishing schools in the area. HSV-SPS is an annual deployment of U.S. Navy ships and assets to the U.S. Southern Command's area of responsibility in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
