A Peruvian combat engineer stands in the doorway of Escuela Pronoie Nuevo Despertas Mis Primeros Pasitos in Zona De Acapulco. U.S. Navy Seabees, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB 23), embarked aboard High Speed Vessel (HSV-2) Swift, are working on refurbishing the school as a part of HSV-Southern Partnership Station 2012. NMCB 23 aboard Swift is working with Peruvian combat engineers from Base Naval De Callao and Brigada Infanteria De Marina De Ancon during HSV-SPS 12. The Seabees and engineers will spend three weeks refurbishing schools in the area. HSV-SPS is an annual deployment of U.S. Navy ships and assets to the U.S. Southern Command's area of responsibility in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
