Chief Olivia Sturgeon, assigned to the Maritime Civil Affairs Team, embarked on High Speed Vessel (HSV-2) Swift, talks to children near an elementary school and comodore being built in Zona De Acapulco. Sturgeon is accompanying the U.S. Navy Seabees, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB 23) embarked aboard Swift who are working with Peruvian combat engineers from Base Naval De Callao and Brigada Infanteria De Marina De Ancon. MCAT and the Seabees and engineers will spend three weeks refurbishing schools in the area, conducting subject matter expert exchanges , and is a part of HSV-Southern Partnership Station 2012. HSV-SPS is an annual deployment of U.S. Navy ships and assets to the U.S. Southern Command's area of responsibility in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
