U.S. Army Spc. Jamil Samuel, a biomedical equipment technician with the U.S. Army Medical Materiel Agency’s Medical Maintenance Operations Division, poses for a portrait at the start of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard’s Best Warrior Competition at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, April 2, 2025.
"I am looking forward to the ruck march, I'm good at rucking and I can keep a good pace," he said. "I joined the Army to challenge myself and I can say the military challenged me in a positive way and has improved my life."
Competitors are evaluated on their individual ability to adapt and overcome challenging scenarios and battle-focused events, which tests their technical and tactical abilities under stress and extreme fatigue.
