U.S. Army Sgt. Daniel J. Miller, unit supply specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 166th Regiment - Regional Training Institute, poses for a portrait at the start of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard’s Best Warrior Competition at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, April 2, 2025.
"I am looking forward to the mystery event, because it's hard to prepare for the unknown," he said. "I joined the Pennsylvania National Guard to serve my country and my community while giving me money for college."
Competitors are evaluated on their individual ability to adapt and overcome challenging scenarios and battle-focused events, which tests their technical and tactical abilities under stress and extreme fatigue.
