U.S. Army Sgt. Jake Dubeau, an infantryman with 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, poses for a portrait at the start of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard’s Best Warrior Competition at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, April 2, 2025.
"I am looking forward to the weapons qualification. It allows for much needed range time that the Army does not always find time for," he said. "I came from active duty and wanted to still serve. I'm awaiting paperwork to go back to active duty."
Competitors are evaluated on their individual ability to adapt and overcome challenging scenarios and battle-focused events, which tests their technical and tactical abilities under stress and extreme fatigue.
