U.S. Army Sgt. Justin N. Jolin, a heavy equipment operator with the 55th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, poses for a portrait at the start of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard’s Best Warrior Competition at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, April 2, 2025.
"The event that I'm most looking forward to is the medical one, I love to learn and practice medical skills. I have also never gotten the chance to practice a full medical assessment, line call in and transportation via sked," he said. "I joined the Pennsylvania National Guard to develop my skills and character along with help for college tuition."
Competitors are evaluated on their individual ability to adapt and overcome challenging scenarios and battle-focused events, which tests their technical and tactical abilities under stress and extreme fatigue.
