PACIFIC OCEAN – An MV-22B Osprey with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Aviation Combat Element lands on the flight deck aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), July 28, 2017. The Osprey provides amphibious assault and transport of troops, equipment and supplies from assault ships and land. The 15th MEU is deployed as a crisis response and contingency force in the 7th Fleet’s area of operation, which spans more than 124 million square kilometers, stretching from the International Dateline to the India-Pakistan border and from the Kuril Islands in the North to the Antarctic in the South.
