PACIFIC OCEAN – Cpls. Bernabe Martinez and Frank Barker, with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Command Element, study for a test during Corporal’s Course aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), July 27, 2017. Corporal’s Course provides junior leaders in the Marine Corps with the knowledge necessary to not only become stronger Marines, but to guide and mentor the Marines in their charge. The 15th MEU is deployed as a crisis response and contingency force in the 7th Fleet’s area of operation. The 7th Fleet’s area of operations spans more than 124 million square kilometers, stretching from the International Dateline to the India-Pakistan border and from the Kuril Islands in the North to the Antarctic in the South.
