Recruits of Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, listen and respond to a drill instructor during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, July 25. Recruits are required to follow all instructions from drill instructors throughout the course of training. In the first week of being at the depot, they will conduct an initial strength test, undergo medical screenings and immunizations and learn the basic rules of recruit training. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate Oct. 21.
