160728-N-NF288-219 YOKOSUKA, Japan (July 28, 2016) Quartermaster Seaman Recruit Reena Cruz, from Wharton, Texas, “dresses the ship” by attaching flags to a rope on the forward end of the ship, leading to the top of the mast, and down to the aft end of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), for the Carrier Task Force 70 change of command. Dressing the ship is performed for special occasions such as change of command ceremonies or holidays such as Independence Day. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
