BREMERTON, Washington (May 18, 2017) Aviation Ordnanceman 3rd Class Ian Phillips, from Savannah, Georgia, assigned to USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), conducts periodic maintenance on a common munitions built-in-test / reprograming equipment unit (CMBRE). CMBREs are a piece of support equipment used to interface with weapons systems to initiate built-in-tests (BIT), report BIT results and upload and download flight software. John C. Stennis is conducting a planned incremental availability (PIA) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, during which the ship is undergoing scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
