160918-N-JS726-001 PHILIPPINE SEA (September 18, 2016) Sailors and Marines conduct a foreign object debris walkdown on the flight deck of the forward-deployed, amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6). Bonhomme Richard, flagship of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group, is operating in the Philippine Sea as part of Exercise Valiant Shield 2016 (VS16). VS16 is a biennial, U.S.-only, field training exercise with a focus on integration of joint training to enable real-world proficiency in sustaining joint forces through detecting, locating, tracking, and engaging units at sea, in the air, on land, and in cyberspace.
